Thank you to everyone at Brighton Center for never giving up on me. Those moments where I believed my case was impossible, the employees of Brighton Center found a way to make it possible. Today, I can proudly say I am a homeowner!

I discovered Brighton Center through a program called Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky. As a parent, I knew I needed a house where I could raise my three girls. I just didn’t have the financial skills. HONK provided the opportunity to rent out a house for a year, while I improved my credit and eventually could buy the house.

Through HONK, I was introduced to Brighton Center’s Financial Services to help me raise my credit score and learn to budget a family of four. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. I was paying off bills I didn’t even know existed. In just under a year, I took my credit score from the low 500s to the high 600s. I was ecstatic. I could finally buy a house for my girls.

Shortly after all this success, I was denied a home loan by the bank. I kept my head up and tried again and was denied; again. We tried a third time and I was denied. The rejection was exhausting. I wanted to give up.

The perseverance and drive in the employees of Brighton Center kept me going. They never once gave up on me or told me I couldn’t. After wasting time and money at three separate banks, the fourth accepted me and provided me with a loan to buy the house. As of June 30th, I can officially say I own a house!

Being involved with Brighton Center has not only given me a home to call my own, but gifted me the financial skills that I need to persevere. I can now pay my bills on time, manage my credit, and give my girls the house they deserve.
