On Tuesday, April 24, Joseph Subaru presented Brighton Center and the Newport Professional Firefighters Local 45 IAFF with a $21,857 check from the proceeds of their Share the Love Campaign.
For every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from November 16, 2017, to January 2, 2018, Subaru donated $250 to the customer's choice of three national charities or from a pre-approved list of hometown charities.
This is the second year Brighton Center and the Newport Professional Firefighters Local 45 IAFF has received donations from this event.
Brighton Center utilizes the funds for the Emergency Assistance program which provides for the food, financial, and clothing needs of the families we serve that are experiencing a crisis. Last year alone, 2,861 families received help during a crisis, had a basic need met, and received a connection to additional services at Brighton Center. 5,177 individuals received clothing vouchers to shop at the clothing closet.
The Newport Professional Firefighters Local 45 IAFF utilizes the funds for their Community Outreach Program which includes holiday assistance, scholarships to Newport High School seniors, assisting with the Power Pack Program at Newport Intermediate School and assisting community members caring for ill children. The “Beyond the Call” program has assisted 426 children from 106 different families with a special holiday experience since its inception in 1993. The scholarship program has provided $26,000 in scholarships to date.
