Your Time

Brighton Center annually places hundreds of volunteers throughout our agency in a variety of positions and programs.  We can also provide groups from schools, churches, clubs, or businesses with volunteer activities.  For more information contact Nina Prysock (Volunteer Supervisor) at 859-491-8303, ext. 2336.

Currently, we have specific needs for volunteers that include:

·        Providing job shadowing opportunities for our Youth Leadership Development program.  Guest speakers are welcome prior to the shadowing experience to speak on topics such as what is expected at the workplace.

·        Assisting with arranging college and university tours for our Youth Leadership Development program.

·        Coordinating activities for children while their parents participate in our Speakers Series.

·        Serving as a chaperone for youth field trips.

·        We have seen a 50% increase of families served through our Emergency Assistance program and we are in the need of volunteers to support this program.

Please know that all volunteering that involves direct work or contact with youth will require background checks.

Your Treasure

Brighton Center is seeing an ever-increasing number of individuals seeking our services, particularly emergency assistance and family support as well as education and employment services.  Flexible funding to meet the need of these individuals and families has become increasingly difficult.  Please consider making an unrestricted cash donation that will support Brighton Center’s mission of creating opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency…  Such a gift will allow us to meet the varying needs of the individuals and families we serve.

If you are unable to provide a monetary gift, yet can provide a donation of an item, please consider the following:

·        Donate your used car so that others may have transportation to work, school, or job training.

·        We are in the need of a new TV to mount on the wall of our Family Center to promote programs and success stories of families.

·        Ten new lap tops or computers are needed to replace outdated equipment of staff and to use in our Community Room to allow families to access the internet for apartment and employment research or to stay connected to their child’s school website.

·        A drop box that will allow us to better accept agency donations after hours.

·        Professional, commercial grade retail shelving and clothing racks with wheels for our Clothing Closet.

·        Home safety kits for parents to child proof their homes.

·        Three portable DVD player for home visitors to take to families homes to show parent education films.

·        We are in the need of “PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions” from Oracle as a platform for replacing an outdated system.

·        Our Homeward Bound Shelter for youth is in the need of a camera system, a chair lift, a web cam, and items for rooms such as new curtains and bedding.

·        New house ware items and toys to be used by programs as incentives for attendance.

·        A new storage unit is needed to secure outside play equipment for our Bright Days Child Development Center.

·        Our child care programs need walkie talkies; CD’s of age appropriate movies, hard back books, or music; contact paper; bulletin board paper; a set of encyclopedias; stationary gross motor equipment for school age children; and an Ellis machine that cuts a variety of theme patterns.

You can also remember Brighton Center, Inc. in your will or as beneficiary of insurance, donate stock, land, and valuables.  Your gifts make a living investment in people’s lives and enables transformation of futures.
